Depart for Khao Yai National park Thailand's first Nature Protection Training Center will be opened on Sunday, 10 October 2004, in Khao Yai National Park, a popular national park among nature lovers and a drive of about two hours and a half from Bangkok. Thailand's first national park, Khao Yai covers an area of 2,168 square kilometers in four provinces: Prachin Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Nayok, and Saraburi. It was officially declared a national park on 18 September 1962. Vegetation is highly diverse, with around 2,000-2,500 plant species. About 60 mammal and 300 bird species have been recorded in this national park.
